Travelling is all about experiencing and exploring a culture different from yours; which is what makes this tour a must-do in Nepal. Everyone is well aware of Kathmandu, but your tour begins with a drive that's half an hour away from the city and into Patan. You'll make no mistake about your arrival here, as its ancient exterior is a stark contrast to the bustling Kathmandu. Surrounding the city's main square, you'll find royal and religious structures which elude to a pantheon, mainly of Vishnu, Brahma, and Shiva. In addition to Patan's structures, you'll get an opportunity to explore the museum featuring artefacts from both Hindu and Buddhist traditions.
Bid Patan goodbye as you continue to the medieval city of Bhaktapur, some 45 minutes away. Known as the "City of Devotees," this place feels like a time-warp with its pagoda rooftops and ancient alleyways. A structure you cannot miss whilst here is the 30m high Nyatapola Temple, with its five pagoda roof lines towering above the market square. It's known to ward off deities and demons with offerings (typically floral and food or percussion or horn music), which is why incessant clanging and tinkling of big and little bells is part of the Bhaktapur charm.
Bid this place goodbye, as you make your way back to Kathmandu, which is an hour's drive away. This marks the end of your tour Kathmandu Valley tour.
