The Semenggoh Wildlife Centre is about 24 kilometres from the centre of Kuching. This centre aims at training orangutans how to survive in the wild as they are mostly orphans or rescued orangutans.
The centre counts no less than 20 orangutans who live in between the wild forest and the centre where they can return time to time for feeding or playing. Upon arrival, you will receive a short brief from the Rangers of the Centre and then proceed to the short path along a trail to reach the feeding area and observe the orangutans. Most of the time they will come down from the trees for an easy, free meal.
There are two feeding times at the Center, one in the morning and one in the afternoon respectively at 9-9.30am and 3-3.30pm. Both morning and afternoon timing tours that are proposed are arranged to fit perfectly with the orangutan feeding times.
It is important to acknowledge that Orangutan are wild animals and that it is not possible to guarantee a 100% chance to see them. However, it is important to highlight that it is surely uncommon not to spot them.
