A truly magical way to see Borobudur is at sunrise, the most visited attraction in Indonesia, Unesco World Heritage.
Borobudur, or Barabudur, is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist monument in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia and the world biggest Buddhist monument.
The monument consists of six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. A main dome, located at the center of the top platform, is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues seated inside a perforated stupa.
Using a torch you will rise up through the levels of the majestic temple whilst it is still dark. Around 5AM you'll be able to enjoy one of your most wonderful sunrise ever from the top of the temple overlooking lush green fields and distant Mt Merapi and hills.
With the surrounding valleys undulating in mist, the experience is extraordinary as the complexity and scale of Borobudur comes to light. It is also both the quietest and coolest time of day to visit the temple. You will be accompanied by guides conscious of the environment, aiming to enhance local's quality of life and a spirit of local wisdom.
