Our trip to the beautiful islands of Moyo and Satonda is spread over 6 nights. This amount of time allows us to cruise along the empty Lombok and Sumbawa coastlines by day and sleep on our own deserted beaches by night. We spend our days visiting Satondas crater lake, waterfalls, beaches and snorkeling or diving the crystal clear waters surrounding Moyo and Satonda.
Satonda island is a small volcano & home to thousands of bats that fly out at sunset, a crater lake & stunning coral reefs that offer incredible UV snorkelling & diving.
Satonda is a small volcano with a salt water lake in its crater, a beautiful beach on the east side and a large colony of fruit bats which take flight for its nightly hunt at dusk.
Satonda Bay has 2 dive sites both of which have great coral diversity, an abundance of macro, lion fish, giant puffa fish, sea snakes and lobsters. Both of these sites are incredible for snorkeling! Lost Boys is a relaxing shallow site between 6-20m with beautiful fields of soft corals home to turtles, rays, and a multitude of reef fish. Suitable for snorkelers and divers. Blue Tree Wall site is an impressive 40m wall broken up by canyons and small caves. Look out into the blue where you may spot large passing palegics including sharks and mantas. The wall itself is home to various species of nudibranchs including Spanish dancers, stone fish, and a selection of hard and soft corals and sea fans.
Moyo is home to 2 waterfalls, one named Princess Diana falls after her visit there in the 90’s, stunning reefs, white beaches & a small Japanese WW2 wreck.
Moyo island offers something for everyone, there are two waterfalls, reached by walking through a small traditional village and along a beautiful path into the island. Moyo is also home to two reserves, one is Moyo Hunting Reserve, home to barking deer, wild pig and macaques. The Marine Park off Moyo insures some great reef diving and south Moyo is also home to a small Japanese wreck which is great for both a day and night dive. Angel Reef located close to the main village on Moyo is a shallow reef with a vibrant wall stretching down beyond 40m. We often spot angel fish, banner fish, trigger fish, nudibranchs, mantis shrimp, crabs, ghost pipe fish, turtles, reef sharks, and passing palegics. The wall itself is covered with gorgonian fans, soft corals, barrel sponges and a huge elephant coral. This site is suitable for snorkeling and diving.
Extra charge $50 for divers.
Divers must justify their status : certified dive body (PADI), certification level and diver number, proof of dive insurance (such as DAN cover), number of logged dives, bcd size, wetsuit size, fin size (european shoe size).
