The menu was created by our Japanese & Asian-trained chefs, led by Chef Colin Buchan during the creation of the menu (previously chef of Gordon Ramsay restaurants in London, Jason Atherton’s Pollen in Singapore, and personal chef to David and Victoria Beckham), they had fun experimenting with creating dishes that are contemporary & playful, with focus on the exploration of exotic flavors from Japan as well as various Asian cuisines.
Located in Ji Restaurant, the ultimate spot located in the heart of Canggu, Bali, where ancient 300 years old temple meets the red horizon over the Indian Ocean, this restaurant offers simply the best contemporary Japanese dining experience in a magical, sensual ambience of ancient Japan and the East, with playful Japanese & Asian inspired dishes and a 180 degree undisturbed view over the magical sea.
The only restaurant housed in an ancient Kang XI period temple from 1706, a majestic blend between the old Chinese and the old Balinese cultures, this ornate and elegant dark wood temple features beautiful carvings and details of mythological animals all over the roofs and ceilings. It was originally a family temple that had been used for generations, before it was salvaged by the founder/designer of Tugu Hotels & Restaurants, the antique collector Anhar Setjadibrata. The beautiful temple is now housed in a red room that features a delicate 18th century Goddess of Mercy, as well as numerous artefacts.
