Your guides and support vehicle will meet you at your hotel and the bike will be adjusted to ensure a comfortable fit. Once you are ready your cycle guide will lead you through the early morning hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh streets as you ride the 15 kilometers (9 miles) to Cheoung Ek, also known as the 'Killing Fields'. The 'Killing Fields' are where Toul Sleng prisoners were forcibly marched and then executed during the Khmer Rouge; it is now a memorial site located in a beautiful tranquil setting. A visit to the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum on the way to the 'Killing Fields' is optional. After some contemplation you continue biking south through traditional villages towards Tonle Bati. Discover the small, yet picturesque Angkorian temples of Ta Prohm and Yeay Peau as well as enjoy a delicious picnic lunch. On the banks of the nearby river you will find a line of bamboo shacks with hammocks, a great place to relax a couple of hours. Later on you can decide whether you want to cycle back to your hotel in Phnom Penh or take the air-conditioned support vehicle.
